Initial consultation with Halleh Sailer, R.P., MD (in Germany)

The first step for everyone is to come in for two 45-minutes sessions of  assessment and initial consultation. This two-sessions is a rich assessment. You will experience a greater sense of clarity around your struggle and how we can best help you. Should you choose not to join us following the consultation, you will be left with an understanding of your treatment needs moving forward and sound recommendations to do so.

After those two sessions; it is determined which therapist you will be assigned to, depending on your diagnosis.

For clients experiencing depression, anxiety or grief, we will connect you with our Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) Serena Manoochehri—who specializes in these areas and works under the clinical supervision of Halle Sailer. After the assessment, Halle Sailer will discuss which clinician may be best suited for your needs and can answer any questions or concerns you may have.

In therapy sessions, clients will establish a greater sense of self-awareness and recognize their patterns and habits that have come to shape their lives.  Dependent upon your individual circumstances, we offer the following treatment sessions and as needed for you.

Our Services

  • One-on-one therapy sessions. Clients will work with a therapist to discover the root cause of their issues that are present in many aspects of their lives.
  • Group therapy for teenagers age 11-18. Group therapy is an opportunity to work in the presence and connection of others recovering from anxiety or mood disorders. This is a chance to receive support/feedback and create connections to peers. In our program we see tremendous value for teens through the group process.
  • Family therapy sessions. We believe that when one family member is affected by a mood disorder then the family needs support to overcome obstacles and further to support the loved one. Family therapy is a crucial step for recovering and we provide a safe environment for sharing, honesty, and learning.
  • Parent counselling. Parent Counselling offers an opportunity to learn more about family dynamics and how to be a positive part of your child or partner’s support network. The connection is necessary in the recovery process.
  • Marital/Couples therapy sessions. These sessions are an opportunity to recognize the dynamics of a relationship and to provide support.
  • Nutritional Programs. This service is offered by a registered nutritionist as additional services in the form of workshops or individual nutritional sessions. (see this page, bottom)

CBT Group Therapy Program

For Adolescents and Children, age 11-18 in two different group settings

Dear Parents,

It has been suggested by your child's doctor that your child might benefit from a group we are running to help children/adolescent to cope with their anxiety issues. These can include:

  • General anxiety and excessive fear in new situations
  • Social anxiety unable to function well in social situations
  • Fear of specific things like insects, weather events and etc.
  • Performance anxiety where they experience greater than usual fear of things like exams or sports or Performances so they don't do as well as they could (or actually refuse)
  • Many with anxiety experience physical symptoms such as chronic headaches, stomach pains etc. as their bodies respond to their fears. Many times Anxiety is genetic and anxious people will continue to avoid different situations even as they get older.

CBT will help to learn coping skills for life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence based psychotherapy that teaches how to cope with these fears by changing how your teen thinks (cognitive) about the fearful situation and it also teaches behaviors that help calm the teen so they can think more appropriately about their anxiety.

Group Therapy and Parent-Teenager Consultations:

The first interview is a family consultation for parents and their teenager. This is:

  • To understand the reasons why your child/adolescent seeks support.
  • To understand whether the Group Sessions will fit for your child/adolescent and benefit her/him.
  • To explain how the group sessions and CBT are working.

Please note for acceptance to the group therapy that is OHIP covered, a referral by your family doctor or pediatrician is required.

After your child has been accepted to the group therapy, there will be seven group sessions with your child and additional two individual family-consultation sessions.

During the individual family-consultation session, your child's or adolescent's progress is discussed, support tips, and parenting advice are provided. The group sessions are covered by OHIP.

Please also note, there is a one-time charge of a $150 administration fee for arranging and organisation around  the group program sessions.

In case there is any financial difficulty to pay this administration fee, please mention this to Halle Sailer when inquiring about the group program. We can offer individual solutions by identifying suitable arrangements.

For further questions in order to arrange an assessment interview or to secure a place for your adolescent/child as soon as possible for the next upcoming group sessions, please call Halle Sailer @ 416-737 8775.

We look forward to meeting you and your child or teen.

The team: Halle Sailer, Dr. Milne, and Dr. Jody Huynh
